How Much Does a Greek Holiday Cost in 2026? Full Budget from Tbilisi

By Traverse Team · Jul 14, 2026

Sandy beach and clear turquoise sea on a summer day in Greece

The short answer: three budgets for 7 days

Per person, from Tbilisi, in 2026:

  • Budget: 1,600–2,000 GEL. A September charter tour to Halkidiki costs 1,015–1,215 GEL and covers the flight, transfers and a hotel with breakfast. The rest goes on food and small daily costs.
  • Mid-range: 2,500–3,500 GEL. A 4-star hotel on half board, a direct flight, two or three excursions.
  • Premium: from 5,000 GEL. A 5-star all inclusive in Halkidiki, or an island combination: Santorini, Crete, ferries and private transfers.

Direct flights from Tbilisi

  • Tbilisi to Athens takes about 2 hours 45 minutes nonstop. Promo fares start at 69 GEL one way; a normal return runs 350–700 GEL.
  • Sky Express runs sales of up to 50% off, mostly in spring and autumn.
  • In summer there are also flights to Thessaloniki. For Halkidiki this is the better airport: the transfer to the resorts takes about an hour.

Package tour or DIY

A package price normally includes the flight, transfers, the hotel with your chosen meal plan and insurance. Tours to Greece from Tbilisi start at about 300 EUR (roughly 900 GEL). A package wins for a beach holiday in high season: charter seats and contracted hotel rates almost always beat booking the same things separately. DIY makes sense for an Athens city break if you catch a 69 GEL promo fare and stay in an apartment.

Tour prices by destination

7 nights, per person in a double room:

  • Halkidiki: 1,015–1,215 GEL on the September charter; 1,400–1,900 GEL in July and August.
  • Crete: 350–600 EUR depending on the hotel. See the 7-day Crete tour for a ready itinerary.
  • Corfu: 400–650 EUR.
  • Athens city break: 300–450 EUR.

Current dates and prices are on the Greece tours page.

Hotel types and prices

  • Apartments: 30–50 EUR per night, no meals. Practical with kids if you cook.
  • 3-star with breakfast: 45–70 EUR per night.
  • 4-star half board: 70–120 EUR per night.
  • All inclusive: adds 25–40 EUR per day over half board. Worth it with children; for a couple planning to eat in tavernas it is usually wasted money.

Costs on the ground

  • Dinner in a taverna: 12–20 EUR; a street gyros is 4–5 EUR.
  • Athens metro: 1.20 EUR per ride; the Acropolis ticket is 30 EUR in summer.
  • Ferry from Piraeus to Santorini: 40–80 EUR; Aegina from about 10 EUR.
  • Sunbed and umbrella: 7–15 EUR a day; many hotels have a free beach section.

Spending moderately, 30–50 EUR a day is enough.

How the season changes the price

August is the most expensive month. In May and September the same hotels cost 20–30% less, and the sea in September is still around 24°C. June is a good middle option: warm enough to swim, prices not yet at peak.

8 ways to save

  • Book by the end of February: early-booking discounts reach 30%.
  • Watch airline promos: the 69 GEL fares sell out within days.
  • For Halkidiki, fly to Thessaloniki, not Athens.
  • Take September instead of August: same hotel, roughly a third cheaper.
  • Choose all inclusive only if you travel with children.
  • On island routes take the conventional ferry, not the fast catamaran: nearly half the price.
  • Travel with hand luggage; checked bags cost extra on promo fares.
  • Lunch on a taverna day menu or gyros: 5–10 EUR covers it.

Visa and documents

Georgians do not need a visa for Greece: a biometric passport gives 90 days in any 180-day period. The passport must stay valid at least 3 months after your return date. Travel insurance costs about 15–30 GEL for a week and is often included in the tour price. ETIAS is expected to launch in late 2026: an online authorisation of about 20 EUR, valid for 3 years, free for under-18s and over-70s. It is not a visa and the application takes minutes.

FAQ

What currency should I take? Euros. Cards work almost everywhere, but keep 100–150 EUR in cash for small tavernas and ferry desks.

How far ahead should I book? 2–3 months for July and August. Charter seats for August often run out in May.

What does a child's place cost? Children aged 2–12 usually get 30–50% off on tours. Under 2, without a separate seat, they travel almost free.
