Small-group tours: all tours
Small-group tours are how most travellers first see Georgia — and, done well, they are the best value in the Caucasus. Our departures are capped at 14 people and usually run with six to ten, in a minibus sized for a mountain road, with a licensed Georgian guide who grew up on the route. The price per person is the lowest we offer, because transport, guide and overnights are shared; what you give up is only the freedom to change the plan on the day.
What a Traverse small-group tour looks like
Fixed dates, listed on each tour page, so you can book flights around them. Hotel pickup in central Tbilisi on the day trips. For Svaneti, an early start from a central meeting point, though we can also collect you from your hotel. A pace that leaves room for the things a coach tour skips: time to walk around Gergeti Trinity after the 4×4 ride up, a family cellar in Kakheti instead of a showroom winery, the roadside khinkali stop that becomes the story everyone tells at home.
Day trips from Tbilisi — Kazbegi and the Kakheti wine country — need nothing but a seat. The four-day Svaneti tour stays in family guesthouses chosen for the food and the welcome rather than the star count, with twin-share rooms as standard and single rooms on request.
Who joins
Solo travellers make up a good share of every group, and a shared minibus is the easiest way to see the mountains without hiring a car. Couples and friends who want the logistics handled. Families with children on the easier routes. Most groups mix several nationalities. The Kazbegi and Kakheti day trips are guided in English or Russian and the Svaneti tour in English; each tour page lists its guide languages.
Beyond Georgia
Trips to Armenia and Azerbaijan are arranged on request for now, without fixed dates. The monasteries of northern Armenia are a day away from Tbilisi across an open border. Azerbaijan works differently: most foreign visitors can only enter it by air (since 26 May 2026 the Tbilisi–Baku train also carries citizens of countries that need no Azerbaijani visa), so a trip starts in Baku, and whether you can drive back into Georgia depends on your passport, which we check before you pay. Send us your dates and we will reply with a route within 24 hours.
Practicalities
A departure marked "Guaranteed departure" runs whatever the final numbers; when a tour's next departure is guaranteed, the label appears at the top of its page. Cancelling is free more than 3 days before a day trip or more than 14 days before a multi-day tour; each tour's booking panel shows its window. Payment only after we confirm your seat. Prices are "from" figures: the price for each date is in the "Dates and prices" table on the tour page, and we confirm it before you pay.
Frequently asked questions
How big are the groups?
Capped at 14 travellers, and 12 on the Svaneti tour. Most departures run with six to ten. Vehicles are minibuses or, on mountain routes, 4×4s — never a coach.
Can I join alone?
Yes. Solo travellers are a regular part of every group. On multi-day tours you can share a twin room with another traveller of the same gender or request a single room for a supplement shown at booking.
What happens if the date does not fill?
Departures marked guaranteed run regardless. For others, we confirm or propose the nearest alternative date at least seven days before departure, and you can cancel free if the alternative does not suit.
What language does the guide speak?
The Kazbegi and Kakheti day trips are guided in English or Russian; the Svaneti mountain guide speaks English. If you need a Georgian-speaking guide, tell us when you book and we will check your date. Each tour page lists its guide languages under “Price includes”.
