The Best Time to Visit Georgia (Country): A Month-by-Month Guide

By Traverse Team · Updated Jun 30, 2026

A green Caucasus valley under a summer sky

Georgia is a genuinely year-round destination, but the "best" month depends entirely on what you're after. Here's the honest breakdown.

Spring (April–June): green and blooming Late spring is glorious in the lowlands — Tbilisi is warm, the wine country is green, and by June the high mountains open up. Wildflowers carpet the alpine meadows. This is one of the two sweet spots.

Summer (July–August): mountain season Hot in Tbilisi and Kakheti (30°C+), but perfect high up. This is the reliable window for Svaneti and Tusheti, when every mountain pass is open and the guesthouses are humming.

Autumn (September–October): the golden season Arguably the best time of all. The heat softens, the light turns golden, and the grape harvest — *rtveli* — takes over Kakheti. Pair a Kazbegi day trip with the wine country and you've got the perfect week.

Winter (November–March): ski value Gudauri is a legitimately good, affordable ski resort, and Tbilisi is atmospheric and cheap. The high mountain tours pause, but the city and wine country carry on.

In short: come in June or September for the best all-round experience. Ready to plan? Browse our Georgia tours or tell us your dates and we'll build something around them.
