What a couples' tour looks like

Most couples take a private car and guide for the days out of Tbilisi — Kazbegi, the wine country, Svaneti — and keep a day or two free in the city. We book boutique hotels and wine-estate rooms rather than tour hotels, plan lunches at family cellars, and put the long drive in the morning so the afternoon is yours. On multi-day routes we add the things that are hard to arrange alone: a sunrise at Gergeti Trinity before the day trippers arrive, a private supra with a host family, a tasting with the winemaker rather than a guide.

Honeymoons and anniversaries

A honeymoon in Georgia typically runs seven to ten days: Tbilisi's old town and sulphur baths, two nights among the Kakheti vineyards, three in the mountains — Kazbegi or, for the adventurous, Ushguli in Svaneti — and, in summer, the Black Sea at Batumi to finish. Tell us the occasion and we plan the small things: the room with the view, the cake, the bottle from the year you met. Georgia also pairs well with a week on a Greek island for a two-country honeymoon.

When to go as a couple

May, June, September and October are the couples' months: warm days, cool nights, wildflowers in spring and the grape harvest in autumn. July and August are excellent in the mountains and hot in the lowlands. For a winter escape, Tbilisi in December — baths, wine bars, snow on the mountains two hours away — is one of the region's best-kept secrets.

Couples' tours are private and priced per group for two. The "from" price on each itinerary covers a mid-range hotel level; upgrade the rooms and the figure changes with them. Payment only after confirmation, and free cancellation up to seven days before departure.
